"I started writing 1,000,000 in August 2024, around the same time that I moved into a small basement suite with my dear friends Aiden and Lars. We spent the first winter together cold, stressed, and broke. It was beautiful. We spent our nights drinking the free low-fill beer they’d bring home from the brewery they worked at. We showed each other music. We spoke openly about fear and love and our problems and we bonded and we bikered. We were all very inspired.

I made this album accidentally, mainly out of necessity. I barely had any demos for it. Every other week I would make something I really loved. Often it was a bit jarring to listen to. Sometimes the music I was working on sounded so dumb it made me laugh. I worked on songs for days straight and would listen to them non stop. If I wasn’t at home I was listening to the Google Drive link in my headphones or blasting it through the clapped speakers of my 2006 Honda Civic, trying to figure out how to make it not sound like shit.

I look at myself and see pieces of my friends. I listen to myself and I hear interactions between nature and people I’ve never met.

I looked for feedback from my peers. Creighton would bully me into making something I was proud of. Lars would tell me to make something my friends would like. I think I made something I’m proud of, and something that my friends would like. "

Past Works 2021-2025.

On April 11th 2025, Cam released his third and final studio album ‘Five Months in Manchester’ under Cam Blake.

“Gone are the studio bells and whistles of his 2024 pop rock leaning SATISFACTION OF SAMENESS LP. In their place we find raw acoustic textures, lo-fi warmth, and a sense of wide-eyed solitude. Whether it’s the slow ache of “Homesick” or the cinematic lift of “Death, Disease and History,” Blake leans fully into storytelling, finding beauty in transient moments and unspoken emotions.” - RANGE

The release was accompanied by a short documentary capturing his life during the recording process, as well as a 30-minute live performance film shot at The Maple Ridge Music Society Home. Featuring a seven-piece band, the performance blends rock, folk, and alternative influences. Since release, the live videos have surpassed 18,000 views, while the album has accumulated over 50,000 streams. Both the documentary and album premiered at a sold-out release show at Green Auto on April 12, 2025, which kicked off his multi-week Canadian tour including Philips Brewing Fest and The Peace Valley Folk Festival.

Prior to this, Cam released his debut indie rock album Bad Vacation (January 15, 2021), co-produced with Sam Cutri of Perth, Australia. The project, featuring collaborations with Young Friend, Ludic (Maxton Cunningham), and Molly Annelle, has amassed over 200,000 streams. Singles such as “Losing My Mind” and “Conversation #3” received airplay on commercial radio across Canada and on U.S. campus stations.

In 2022, Blake toured seven cities across Western Canada in support of his EP Finding My Way Home, funded by Creative BC and Music BC’s Travel & Career Development Grant. The following year saw him performing at major regional festivals including Barnside Harvest Festival, Khatsahlano Festival, and Shipyards Festival. He also opened for Peach Pit and Young Friend at a sold-out show at the Commodore Ballroom as part of the Kingfisher Bluez Christmas Show.

His sophomore album, SATISFACTION OF SAMENESS (May 2024), released via Adagio Music Inc. (digital) and Kingfisher Bluez (vinyl), marked a significant evolution in his production and songwriting. The record was met with critical acclaim, with Northern Transmission calling it “one of the most well-produced and conceptual projects to come out of Vancouver in the last couple of years.”

Beyond his solo work, Blake has built a strong reputation as a producer and collaborator. He was a founding member of the indie band Bookclub, whose self-titled album gained local traction before the group disbanded in 2022. He later began working closely with grunge and shoegaze artist Cherry Pick, producing and mixing multiple projects including the EP Sorry Place, which has earned hundreds of thousands of streams. His production credits also include work with Kers, Jillian Lake, Tim The Mute, Jian, Text-Dial Video Archive and many more.
